Whitlock, John A.

John A. Whitlock was a printer and newspaper owner, editor, and publisher. He spent at least part of his childhood in Marshall, Illinois, where his father worked as a saddler. He remained in Marshall until at least 1865, working in a printing establishment and in the newspaper business. In 1858, in partnership with N. O. McKeen, he started the pro-Republican Marshall Journal. In October 1863, he married Susie W. Jones.
