Withers, William P.

Withers married Mary Coles in McLean County, Illinois, in 1843. From 1858 to 1861, he served as the county sheriff. In 1861, he enlisted in the Fifth Illinois Cavalry, serving as captain until he was mustered out in November 1864. In 1860, Withers owned $23,500 worth of real estate and $2,000 worth of personal property.
