Oxford, Ohio, is a village in Butler County, Ohio. Located in southwestern Ohio, twelve miles northwest of Hamilton, Oxford had its origins in 1810 as part of the land of Miami University. In 1830, the Ohio General Assembly incorporated Oxford as a village. A president and trustee governed Oxford until a mayoral system was established in 1855. Peter Sutton was the first mayor, serving from 1855 to 1861.
