A Bill to amend an act relative to the improvement of the Great Wabash River Approved, 12th February 1833

Sec[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That hereafter it shall be the duty of the Commissioner, appointed on the part of this state, to superintend, the improvements of the Great wabash River to annually make a report to the Governor of this State, of the procedings, had under the act to which this is an amendment, Shewing the progress or result of any examination, survey or improvement, that has been made, the amount [...?] ^drawn^ from treasury in pursuance of law, and a detaled statement of the disbursment of said fund under his Charge, and the time he has actually been engaged in the discharge of his duties, which report shall be laid before the general assembly by the Governor for their examination and inspection in the first week of each Session.
Sec 2d So much of the Sixth Section of the act to which this is an amendment, as requires the Commissioner to settle with the Circuit Court of Wabash County be and the same is hereby repealed2

1John Dawson introduced HB 41 in the House of Representatives on December 18, 1834. On December 19, the House referred it to a select committee. On December 26, the select committee reported back the bill without amendment, but the House re-committed it to another select committee. This select committee reported the bill back with an amendment on January 10, 1835, and the House referred the bill and amendment to the Committee on Finance. On January 15, the Committee on Finance reported back the bill with sundry amendments, in which the House concurred. The House passed the bill as amended on January 16. On January 24, the Senate referred it to the Committee on Internal Improvements. The bill did not become law. 2Section 6 had ordered the commissioner to only report his progress and paperwork to the Wabash Circuit Court, which would then report it to the governor.
