A Bill for an act to amend “An act regulating Mills and Millers” approved Feby.[February] 9th 1827.
Sec.[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly. That hereafter no owner or ocupier of a public mill shall be held accountable for the safe keeping of any grain received in his mill to be ground or for the bags or casks containing the same unless said bags or casks shall be distinctly marked with the owners name in ^10^ full, any thing in former laws to the contract notwithstanding.

Sec. 2nd It shall be the duty of the owner or
occupier of every publick mill to unload and
load all such grain as shall be brought to
him to be ground. And for a failure to do so,
shall forfeit and paythe ^any^ sum ^not exceeding ten^ of five dollars
for each offence to the use of any person who
will sue for the same. Provided that Justices
of the Peace shall have Jurisdiction to the amount of one hundred dollars in all cases of penalty or forfeiture accruing under this act or the act to which this is an amendment.
Sec. 3rd All acts and parts of acts coming within the purview of this act are hereby repealed. This act to be in force from and after the first day of June next.
