Sec[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That the private road as now marked and laid out & opened from a point diverging from the road Leading from Springfield to Hillsboro, near the farm of Butler Seward and intersecting the road from Hillsboro to Jacksonville near the farm of Bailey Taylor, be and the same is hereby declared a State road, and shall be worked and kept in repair as other State Roads.

Stuart from the Committee on Petitions, to which the House of Representatives referred the petition of sundry citizens of Montgomery and Macoupin counties, introduced HB 86 in the House on January 7, 1835. The House referred it to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill on January 8 without amendment. The House passed the bill on January 9. On January 12, the Senate tabled the bill.
