Sec[Section] 1st Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly; That Silas P. Rhodes of Shelby County, Silas Hart of Coles County, Lewis M. Jourdan of Jasper County, and John Adams of Lawrence County be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to view[,] mark[,] and locate a State road from Shelbyville to the great Wabash river in Lawrence County Opposite Vincennes in Indiana.
Sec 2nd The said Commissioners or a majority of them shall meet in the Town of Shelbyville on the first monday of may next, or as soon thereafter as practicable, and after
being duly sworn before some Justice of the peace, proceed to view, mark, and locate
said road, on the nearest and most eligible route,

taking into view the present and future population.
Sec 3rd The said Commissioners, shall during the month of may next, or as soon thereafter
as possible, cause a true report of said road, with the number of days they were employed
in locating the same, signed by them, to be lodged with each of the County Commissioners
Courts, in the Counties respectively through which it may pass; which road, when laid
out as aforesaid, shall be considered a public State Road: and the County Commissioner
of the several Counties, through which said road may pass, shall appoint supervisors,
and cause the same to be opened and kept in repair, as other State roads are; and
said commissioners

shall receive such compensation for their services, not exceeding one dollar and fifty
Cents per day, out of the respective County Treasuries, in which they reside, as may
be deemed reasonable.
