Resolved by the senate and House of representatives of the people of the state of Illinois That our Senators in Congress be instructed and our Representatives requested to use their exertions to procure an appropriation from the General Government for the purpose of improving the navigation of the Kaskaskia River from Vandalia to its Confluence on the mississippi river and also that an engineer be appointed to examine and report the obstructions to the navigation of said river to the next Congress of the United States with a Statement of the probable sum it will cost to remove such obstructions
