Sec. [Section]1st Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, that the [county?] of Madison shall be districted for the election of County Commissioners as follows: to wit. Begining at the south west corner of the county line, thence running north with said line
to the northwest corner of said county, thence east with said county line to where the waters of Indian creek Strikes said line, thence runing south with said creek to where it intersects with Cahokia Creek, thence with said creek to the south line of the county, thence west to the place of begining, which shall compose the west district.
Sec 2nd. Then commence at the south west corner of the west district and run with the county
line to where the west branch of Silver creek strikes the said line, thence north
with said creek to the north line of the county, thence west with [said?] county line to Indian Creek, which shall compose the centre district.
Sec 3rd. Commence at the south east corner of the centre district and run with the county line east to the east corner of said county, thence north with said line, to the north corner thereof, thence West with said
line to where it intersects with the north corner of the centre district, which shall compose the east district.
Sec. 4th. That in all general or special elections hereafter held in the county aforesaid for county commissioners, the individuals or candidates from each district who receives the greatest number
of votes in said district, shall compose the county commissioners court

1Nathaniel Buckmaster introduced HB 40 in the House of Representatives on December 18, 1835. On December 23, the House referred it to a select committee.
The select committee reported back the bill on December 26 with an amendment, in which
the House concurred. The House passed the bill as amended. On January 11, 1836,
the Senate tabled the bill.
