An act to Locate a state Road from Gol Shawneetown in Gallatin County to Golconda in Pope County.

Sec.[Section] 1^st Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General assembly, That John Ellis and Robert Thompson of the County of Gallatin and Daniel Vineyard of the County of Pope, be, and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view, survey[,] and locate a State Road from G Shawneetown in Gallatin County to Golconda in Pope County.

Sec. 2^d The said commissioners, or a majority of them, shall meet at the residence of Izaih L. Potts in Gallatin County on the second monday in May next, or within a convenient time thereafter; who after being duly sworn before some justice of the Peace, faithfully to discharge to duties hereby enjoined on them by the provisions of this act, shall proceed to view, survey[,] and locate said road, taking into consideration the local situation of the country through which the road shall pass, and the advantag economy of a Judicious adoption of the ^direct^ mail Route between said Towns, selecting at all times the most eligible and advantageous ground for the location of said road; and the said commissioners shall, on or before the first monday of September next, make or cause to be made, a true chart or map of said road, signed by them respectively, to be lodged lodged ^filed^ in the offices of the clerks of the County commissioners Courts of the several cont Counties through which the said Road shall pass, is be located.

Sec. 3^d The said Road, when laid out as aforesaid shall be deemed and considered a State Road, and the County Commissioners’ courts of the Counties through which the said Road may pass, shall appoint supervisors for said Road, and cause the same to be opened a convenient width, and to be worked and kept in good repair.

Sec. 4^th The Commissioners appointed under the provisions of this act, shall recieve recieve a just and fair compensation for the time they are necessarily employed in the survey and establishment of said Road, each County paying for the time necessarily therein employed therein.
