An Act to change the names of certain Towns.
Section 1st Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly; that the name of the Town of Vienna, in the County of Will surveyed and laid off, on the North East quarter of Section numbered, two, Township
Numbered Thirty four, North of Range nine, East, of the third principal meridian,
be and the same is hereby changed to, East Buffaloe. Provided, however that nothing shall be so construed, as to impair the validity
of any contracts or conveyances made and entered into previous to the passage of this
Act.
Sec[Section] 2d That the Town of New Salem in the County of Coles, which has been laid off agreeably to Law, and a plat thereof Recorded, pursuant
to the Statute in such cases, shall be and is hereby changed to that of New. Albany, by which latter name it shall be known and called, in all public records and Documents;
and in all legal transactions, where it shall be necessary to name said Town, or place,
the name of New Albany shall be used, Provided however that the change of the name of said Town shall in no wise effect any contracts or conveyances heretofore made or entered into,
an any other legal transactions or business whatever: and this Act shall take effect
and be in force from and after it’s passage.
