AN ACT to amend an act entitled “an act to lay out a State road therein named.”

Commissioners authorised to make and return map.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That James Gifford,

Daniel S. Haight, and Josiah C. Goodhue, commissioners appointed by the general assembly by an (act) approved January 15, 1836, to view, survey, and locate a road from Meacham’s grove in Cook county, to Galena in Jo Daviess county, be and they are hereby authorised to make, or cause to be made, true maps of the said road signed by them or a majority of them, and to lodge the same with each of the county commissioners courts respectively through which the said road passes, on or before the first day of May next.
Part of former act repealed
Sec. 2. So much of the second section of the act to which this is an amendment, as requires said commissioners to make or cause to be made, true maps of said road, and lodge the same in the office of each of the county commissioners courts in the counties respectively through which said road passes, on or before the first day of November 1836, be and the same is hereby repealed.2
Approved 1st March, 1837.
1Augustus G. S. Wight introduced SB 116 in the Senate on January 24, 1837. The Senate passed the bill on January 28. The House of Representatives passed the bill on February 24. On March 1, the Council of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.

2The commissioners eventually surveyed and located this road, and it opened shortly thereafter. The road became an important thoroughfare stretching across the northern part of Illinois.
