AN ACT declaring the Mauvaise-terre a navigable stream.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the Mauvaise-terre creek, from its confluence with the Illinois river up to the Oxville bridge, in Morgan county, is hereby declared a navigable stream and a public highway; and all laws prohibiting the obstruction of navigable streams and public highways shall be deemed applicable to the said creek, between the points aforesaid.

1In response to a petition, William Gilham introduced HB 181 to the House of Representatives on January 23, 1839. The House passed the bill on February 5. The Senate passed the bill on February 13. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 16 and the act became law.
