Section 1. Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Illinois Represented in the General Assembly, That George W Jones of the county of Jo Daviess is hereby authorized and Licenced to keep a Ferry across [...?] the Mississippi River, from a point called Jordans Ferry to DuBuque on the opposite side of the River in the territory of Iowa; and said Jones[,] his heirs and assigns shall have the Exclusive right of having [and?] maintaining, and using ^a^ the Ferry aforesaid across the River at the places aforesaid [...?] and to Have and receive all advantages and Emoluments arising from the use of said Ferry for and during the period of ten years; provided however, that the county commissioners of the county of Jo Daviess shall have the right to assess a [...?] an annual tax upon the said Ferry equal to that Levied upon other ferries in said county similarly situated, and this act shall be deemed a contract between the state and the said Jones, the said Jones agreeing on his part in consideration of the privilege granted to Keep the said Ferry and use the same according to the Laws of the state regulating Ferries.
