Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That there shall be established a State road leading from Beardstown by the way of Arenz’s mill and Lynnville to Manchester on the nearest and best ground between the points aforesaid, and John Carter living near Lynnville Joel Sugg of Manchester and Francis Arenz of Cass County are hereby appointed Commissioners to locate said road, said Commissioners shall
meet at Beardstown on some day to be agreed upon by them before the first day of August next, and being
sworn before some Justice of the Peace faithfully to di[sc]harge the duties imposed upon them by this act, shall proceed to locate said road
upon the best ground to be obtained, having regard to distance, to the public convenience
and to the probable cost of the right of way, ^and upon Agreeing upon the line of the road shall mark the same^ so as to enable supervisors to follow the line and open the road upon the line located,
and make reports of their proceedings to the Commissioners Courts of the several Counties
through which the said road passes and the same shall be entered on the records of
said Courts, and from the date of such entry the said road shall be a State road.
In locating the Road, the Commissioners shall follow the line and occupy the same
ground at present occupied by the State or County Roads so far as the same can be
done consistently with the Public Interest.

The Commissioners shall be paid two dollars per day each, by the several Counties
through which the road passes in proportion to the length of time occupied in each
County, any two of the Commissioners may act under the provisions of this act.
