AN ACT to amend the act incorporating the New Canton and Piketon Railroad Company.

Railroad changed to turnpike road.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the New Canton and Piketon Railroad Company are hereby authorized to change the construction of said railroad into a turnpike road; and that the time allowed by the charter of said company, to commence and complete the construction of said railroad, shall be extended five years longer.

1On January 29, 1839, Senator William Weatherford, from the select committee to which was refereed a petition of citizens of Morgan County in favor of incorporating the New Canton and Piketon Railroad Company, introduced SB 154 in the Senate. On February 7, the Senate passed the bill. On February 22, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 26, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
