Sect[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That J. B. Shaw of Lawrence County, James H Wilson and William Magil of Crawford County be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners to view, survey, mark[,] and relocate (via Russelville) so much of the Vincennes and Chicago State Road as lies between Gibson’s Ferry at Vincennes, and John Foxe[’]s in Crawford County.
Sec 2. Said Commissioners or a majority of them shall meet on or before the first day
of September next, and after being duly sworn shall commence at James Gibson’s ferry opposite Vincennes, and from that point proceed to perform the duties required of them by the provisions
of the first section of this act; and shall file with the Clerk of the County Commissioners
Courts of Lawrence and Crawford Counties, a report and map of said road, which report and map, shall be filed and
preserved, and shall form a part of the record of said Courts, and the roads when
located as above described shall be opened four poles wide, and kept in repair as
other State roads are required to be.
Sec 3 The commissioners hereby appointed, the surveyor, chain carriers, and marker necessarily
employed by them, shall each receive for their services a reasonable compensation,
which shall be paid out of the County Treasuries of the counties of Lawrence and Crawford equally.
Sec 4 So much of the present Vincennes and Chicago State road, as lies between Vincennes and John

Foxe[’]s in Crawford County, is hereby declared a state road and the County Commissioners of Lawrence and Crawford Counties, are hereby required required to cause the same to be kept open and in repair as other States Road are.
