AN ACT to authorize the Governor to commission the sheriff of Schuyler county.
1Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the Governor be, and he is hereby, required to commission the sheriff of Schuyler county, in this State, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

1On February 7, 1839, William A. Richardson introduced SB 190 in the Senate, where, after three readings, the Senate passed the bill without amendment, and referred it to the House of Representatives. On February 14, the House referred the bill to a select committee of which Abraham Lincoln served as a member. The select committee reported back the bill on February 21 with
an amendment, in which the House concurred. On February 26, the House passed the bill as amended. On March 1, the Senate concurred in the House amendment. On March 2, theCouncil of Revision approved the bill, and the act became law.
