AN ACT changing the place of depositing the public money.
1State Bank to be used by Treasurer as place of deposite.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That from and after the removal of the Treasurer’s office from Vandalia to Springfield, the State Bank of Illinois shall be used by the Treasurer as the place of depositing the public money, instead
of the Branch Bank at Vandalia, under the provisions of the act, entitled “An act to provide for the safe-keeping
and security of the public money,” approved on the fourth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and thirty-seven.

1On February 13, 1839, William Thomas introduced SB 222 in the Senate. On February 19, the Senate passed the bill. On February 27, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On March 1, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
