An act to continue the State Road from Henepin on the Illinois River & by Mannings to Illinois City in Rock Island county to Colemans Ferry on the Mississippi River.
Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the state of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly that Wm P. Hull[,] James Manning[,] Joseph Crawford be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to view Locate and mark a state Road to commence at J. Mannings on the State road Leading from Henepin on the Illinois River to the mississippi thence on the high ground between Waters of falling into the mississippi on the right and the waters falling into Copperas Creek on the left to Illinois City and thence to Colemans Ferry across the mississippi ^River^
Sec 2 The said [viewers?] ^Commissioners^ shall meet at the House of James Manning on the first Monday in June ^next^ or within four months thereafter and after being duly sworn faithful by some Judge of the court or Justice of the peace faithfully to perform the duties of Road Commissioners shall proceed to view and mark the said Road in the manner State Roads are usually marked
Setting mile posts on the right of the said Road with miles ^marked^ progressively marked thereon
Sec 3 When they ^the said commissions^ shall have completed the same they shall make out a map & field notes of the survey of said Road and file the same in the County Commissioners Court, of the County of Rock Island and of that of Mercer if any part of said Road shall be in Mercer county and the county courts of the counties of Rock Island & Mercer shall pay to the commissioners above named each two Dollars per day ^each^ to the surveyor three Dollars per day & to each chain bearer & axman one Dollar & fifty Cents pr day for the time necessarily employed in Laying out & marking the same and for making return thereof in proportion to the distance in each county
S[Section] 4 And the road when so laid out marked & returned shall be deemed a public High way and kept sixty feet wide and kept in repair as such
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage

Com[Committee] state roads
1On December 14, 1838, James Craig in the House of Representatives presented the petition of citizens of Mercer County, requesting continuation of a state road. The House referred the petition to a select committee. In response to this petition, Germanicus Kent of the aforesaid select committee introduced HB 88 in the House on December 31. On January 3, 1839, the House referred the bill to the Committee on State Roads, which did not report back the bill.
