Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That Joseph Duncan, Thomas T. January, Joseph C. Thompson, James Dunlap, Alexander Brother[,] and William A Conn, and their successors and associates be and they are hereby constituted a body politic
and corporate under the name of the Meredosia Hotel Company, said Hotel to be located in the Town of Meredocia Morgan County and by the name aforesaid shall have power to contract and be contracted with, sue,
and be sued pl[ead] and be impleaded in all courts in this state, and shall be vested with all powers and priveleges, necessary to the object of their Incorporation as are herin defined and provided.
Sec. 2. The capital stock of said company shall be ten thousand dollars with the liberty to increase the sum ^to^ thirty thousand Dollars, which capital

stock shall be divided into shares of one thousand
^hundred^ dollars each.
Sec 3 The individuals aforesaid shall be commissioners to open Books for the subscription
of the capital stock of said company, at such time and place as to them may seem proper, and said corporation sha[ll] be entitled to the rights and priveleg[es]
and be subject to all the penalties, and forfeitures, granted to the Dixon Hotel Company by “an act entitled “an to incorporate the Dixon Hotel Company approved March 2nd 1837”
