Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly That David W Matthews, Mark Aldrich, their heirs and assigns are hereby authorised to establish and keep a Ferry for the period of Ten years across the Mississippi River from the Town of Warsaw in Hancock County to a point at or near the mouth of theDes Moins River opposite said Town
Sec 2. Said Matthews and Aldrich shall within two years from the passage of this act cause said Ferry to be furnished with a good tight Boat worked by Steam power and sufficient for the safe and speedy transportation of all passengers, their teams, horses, cattle, and other animals as well as thier goods and effects: And said Boat shall be furnished with men of suitable strength and skill to manage the same
Sec 3 Said Matthews and Aldrich shall receive such rates and sums of money for crossing at said Ferry as are now allowed and taken for crossing between Warsaw and the mouth of said River Des Moins, And in the management of the same they shall be governed by the requisitions of the act entitled “an act to provide for the establishment of Ferry, Toll Bridges and Turnpike Roads approved February 12. 1827[]
