AN ACT authorizing the county commissioners of Union county to borrow money for certain purposes.
1Co. comr’s[County Commissioners] may borrow money to complete public buildings
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the county commissioners of Union county, are hereby authorized to borrow from any person or corporation, a sum of money sufficient
for the erection and completion of the necessary public buildings for the county and are empowered to execute any notes or bonds, bearing interest not exceeding twelve
per cent. per annum, for the purpose of carrying out the intention of this act, which notes or bonds
shall be binding on the said county of Union.

1Jacob Zimmerman introduced HB 55 to the House of Representatives on December 27, 1839. The House passed the bill on January 2, 1840. The Senate passed the bill on January 30. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 1 and the act became law.
