An ACT to provide for the appointment of another Commissioner to review certain State roads.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That Hall Syms be added to the list of commissioners to review certain State roads2, running out of the south and west side of the town of Paris, in the county of Edgar, as authorized in a previous act of the present Legislature. This act to be in force from and after its passage.

1Leander Munsell introduced HB 170 in the House of Representatives on February 3, 1841. The House passed the bill on February 10. The Senate passed the bill on February 18. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 24 and the act became law.

2State roads were those public roads established or designated by the General Assembly and usually crossed county lines. Only the General Assembly could establish, alter, or abandon state roads, until 1840 and 1841, when the General Assembly gave counties the authority to alter or to abandon state roads upon petition by a majority of voters in the area of the change.
