Sec[Section] 1 Be it enacted by the peop[le] of the state of Illinois represented in the General Assembly, That at all elections of Mayor and aldermen within & for said city, all white male
inhabitants above the age of twenty one years who have resided in the state Six months next preceeding the election & who actually reside in the said city shall enjoy the right of electors, but no person shall be entitled to vote for alde[r]men except in the ward in which he shall actually reside at the time of the election
Sec 2. The county shall be exempt from the support of paupers within the limits of said City, but the City council shall provide such means & pass such ordinances as they shall
deem proper for the support of their own paupers.
Sec 3. The inhabitants of the city of Quincy shall, the same as other citizens of the county, pay a county tax on all their property situate without the limits of the city.
Sec 4. So much of the act to which this is an amendment as requires the Mayor of the
City to be a free holder, be and the same is hereby repealed
