An ACT organizing a school district in Vermilion county, and authorizing the sale of school lands therein.

Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That all that part of town nineteen, situated in range ten, in Vermilion county, be and the same is hereby attached to and shall form a part of the school district
situated on range eleven, town nineteen, in said county; and shall be subject to all the rules and regulations and enjoy all the privileges
and advantages which by law the school district situated in range eleven is now subject
to or enjoys.2
Commissioner authorized to sell lands.
Sec. 2. That the school commissioner of Vermilion county be and is hereby authorized to sell all the school lands situated in range ten, town
nineteen, in said county, upon the presentation to him of a petition, containing the names of four-fifths
of the legal voters of said range ten, town nineteen, signifying their willingness
and desire to have the same sold.
Sec. 3. That said school commissioner shall be governed in all respects in the sale of
said school land as now governed in the sale of other school lands in said county.
Fund, how used.
Sec. 4. That the fund arising from the sale of the school land, situated in range ten, shall be used for the benefit of the school district, composed of ranges ten and
eleven, in town nineteen, so long as the said ranges shall compose one school district,
and no longer.

1William Fithian presented a petition from the inhabitants on range ten, township nineteen, in Vermilion County to the Senate on November 27, 1840, asking to be attached to range eleven, town nineteen, for school
purposes. The Senate referred this petition to the Committee on School Lands and
Education. In response to this petition, William H. Davidson introduced SB 57 on December 19, 1840. The Senate passed the bill on December 24. The House of Representatives passed the bill on February 16, 1841. The Council of Revision approved the bill on February 19 and the act became law.

2Township Nineteen North, Ranges 10 and 11, were located in the eastern portion of
Vermilion County that included Danville. Range 1o bordered Indiana and was inside the boundary of Danville Township according
to the civil township boundary, but outside it according to the congressional township
boundary.
