An ACT to authorize the Fund Commissioner to compound for and adjust demands in favor of the State.

Fund com’r to settle claims of State.
Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly, That the Fund commissioner be, and he is hereby authorized to compound for, and adjust any unsettled demands which the State has against any person or persons, body corporate or politic, in the State of New York, or elsewhere, who may have been the purchaser or purchasers of State bonds upon such terms and conditions as he may deem equitable and just, and for the best interest of the State, subject nevertheless to be ratified and confirmed, or rejected by the Governor.

1On February 22, 1841, William H. Davidson of the Committee on the Judiciary introduced a resolution in the Senate. On February 25, James H. Ralston, a member of the committee, introduced SB 239 in the Senate, and the Senate passed the bill. On February 27, the House of Representatives passed the bill. On February 27, the Council of Revision approved the bill and the act became law.
