Springfield Feb 25th 1841to the Honourable the Senate and house of Represented
your Petitioner earnestly begs leave to lay before your Honourable Body a series of injurys he has sustained in consequence of the suspension of the further completion of the
state House
on the 18th of August Last Dr. Henry the then acting state House commissioner in the City of St. Louis entered into articles of Agreement with me to compleat and finish the Plastering of the State house and in consequence of which I was induced
to give up my Buisness there and move my family to springfield which was attended with a greate Deal of inconvenience and expence I have performed all I agreed to do on my Part it is not so on the part of the State they have not performed nothing that they agreed to Do with me I have Recd for what ^work^ I have Done upon the Job as payment auditors warrants to the Amount of eight hundred
and ninety four Dollars and ninety two cents and that is not actually in proportion
to contract but according to contract I was to be governed by the estimate of Mr J. F. Rague the architect and that is all that he could allow me I am a poor man with a Large
family and if I am not allowed a reasonable compensation for the disappointments and

time and expences that I have been under in coming from and Returning to st Louis it will be a serious ^Loss^ to your Petitioner but I feel confidint that your Honourable Body will at once see the Difficulty and disadvantages he has Laboured under and extend that Relief he is so Justly entitled to and for whose welfare your
Humble Petitioner shall ever pray for
