An act for the relief of the heirs of Daniel Barrow decd[deceased].
1Sec.[Section] 1. Be it enacted by the people of the State of Illinois represented in the General Assembly. That John Barrow and Tyre Barrow, or either of them be, and they are, and either of them is, hereby authorized and
empowered to sell, either at private sale or at public auction, as they, or either
of them, shall deem best, one hundred and twenty acres of land, situate in Jackson County, being the East half and the South West quarter of the North East quarter of Section
thirteen in Township and seven South of Range five West2; and formerly belonging to Daniel Barrow deceased; and now the property of the heirs of said Daniel Barrow; and the said John Barrow and Tyre Barrow ^are^ or either of them is, hereby empowered to receive and receipt for the purchase money
on such sale.
Sec. 2. The said John Barrow and Tyre Barrow shall, before they perform any act whatever, (and either of them shall before he
performs any act whatever) under the authority of this act, enter into a bond to the
people of the State of Illinois, in the sum of four hundred dollars, with such person, or persons as security, as
shall be required by the Court of Probate Justice of Jackson County, Conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties imposed on them, or either
of them, by this act; which bond shall be filed with said court of Probate Justice,
and may in case of the breach of the condition, be proceeded upon in the manner prescribed
by law against administrators and their securities, on administration bond.
Sec. 3. The said John Barrow and Tyre Barrow, are, and either of them is, hereby empowered to make, seal, and

required to make report of all proceedings under this act, to the probate Justice
of Jackson County

deliver, and acknowledge all necessary deeds of conveyance for said land; and when
they ^receive^ (or either of them receives) the purchase money, they (or he) shall distribute the
same among the several heirs of the said Daniel Barrow giving to each heir respectively such a portion of said money, as he or she may be
entitled to; and they ^are^

1On December 9, 1840, John Logan in the House of Representatives presented the petition of John Barrow, which the House referred to a select committee. In response to this petition, Logan
of the aforesaid select committee introduced HB 22 in the House on December 12. The
House referred the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. The Committee on the Judiciary
reported back the bill on December 17, recommending its rejection. The House referred
the bill to a select committee. The select committee reported back the bill on December
29, recommending its passage. On January 4, 1841, the House rejected the bill by
a vote of 19 yeas to 56 nays, with Abraham Lincoln not voting.
