Resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring herein, That our Senators in Congress be instructed, and our Representatives requested to use their best exertions to procure
the repeal of the duty of ten cents per bushel upon imported Salt, and also a repeal
of the duty on Sugar.
1Sidney H. Little introduced the resolution in the Senate on December 23, 1839, and the Senate adopted it. The Senate informed the House of Representatives on the resolution’s adoption, but the House took no action.
