Resolved by the House of Representatives, The Senate concurring herein that our Senators in Congress be instructed and our Representatives requested to use their best exertions to procure
a donation to the States of Indiana and Illinois, or six hundred thousand acres of the public lands remaining unsold, and lying with
said States, the proceeds of which shall constitute a joint fund, to be applied to
the improvement of the Great Wabash river.
1Joseph G. Bowman introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives on December 12, 1839, and the House adopted it. The Senate concurred on December
17.
