J. F. Humphreys & Brothers was a grocer company based out of Bloomington, Illinois. The company's store was located on the south side of Bloomington's public square. The store originally opened in January 1849, under the partial ownership of Dr. Thomas P. Rogers of Washington, Illinois, a mentor of John F. Humphreys. This store was destroyed by fire in 1853. In 1854, Humphreys opened a new grocery store at the corner of Washington and Center Streets. The next year, however, this store was also destroyed by fire. Humphreys then rebuilt back on the south side of the public square. J. F. Humphreys & Brothers was also affiliated with a wholesale grocery company that Humphreys founded partnership with a Mr. Gustin.
