Springfield Gas Light Company

The Illinois General Assembly approved the incorporation of the Springfield Gas Light Company on February 27, 1854. Its original board members included John T. Stuart, Stephen T. Logan, Ninian W. Edwards, Benjamin S. Edwards, and William J. Black, among others. Its headquarters were located on the west side of Springfield, Illinois. Alfred Odiorne served as superintendent of the company in 1854.
