Aikin, Charles W.

Charles W. Aikin was a machinist and postmaster. By 1860, he owned $600 in real estate. In May 1862, he received appointment as postmaster for Oakley, Illinois. He remained in the position until at least September 1865. During the Civil War, he registered for the draft, but does not appear to have served. He and his wife had at least seven children together.
