Henry C. Beers was a grocer in Springfield, Illinois. Beers lived his first few years in Carlyle, Illinois, before his parents moved to Sangamon County, settling three miles southwest of Williamsville. In July 1848, he married Adelaide C. McNabb, with whom he would have one son. In 1850, Beers was living and working in Springfield as grocer and owned real property valued at $650. In March 1851, Beers’ son died from an unknown malady.
