Beach had moved to Sangamon County, Illinois, by 1838, when he married Phylatta (or Filetta) Harding. They settled in Loami, where George was a wheelwright, with $400 in real property in 1850. In 1860, Beach supported John Bell of the Constitutional Union Party for president.
