Campbell, John A.

Born: 1816-09-30 Kanawha County, West Virginia

Flourished: Springfield, Illinois

A son of Robert Campbell, John A. moved west with his parents and family, settling near Loami, Illinois, by 1835. A few years later, John moved to Springfield, where he worked as a machinist. In 1838, he married Susan Short, with whom he had five children. After Susan's death in 1852, John remarried to Elizabeth Hawker Rusk. After her death in 1856, he remarried to Elizabeth Rich, with whom he had one child. Politically, Campbell was a Whig. Campbell later moved to St. Louis, Missouri.
