Campbell, Thomas (of Spring Creek, IL)

In 1807, Campbell moved from South Carolina to Kentucky. There he married Elizabeth Robinson, with whom he eventually had twelve children. In 1823, they moved their family to Sangamon County, Illinois, where they settled near Berlin. Campbell had been licensed as a Cumberland Presbyterian preacher in Kentucky, and in Illinois he was ordained as a minister, a career he followed for the rest of his life. Politically, Campbell was a Whig.
