Conant, William S.

Conant moved with his family to Springfield, Illinois, in 1831. He married Mary Sykes, with whom he had two children. After Mary's death in 1864, William remarried to Eliza Kinkead, and they moved to Petersburg, Illinois. Conant was engaged in furniture making and was also an undertaker. In 1844, he was injured in an accident involving a Whig "liberty pole" in downtown Springfield.
