Hibbs, John
Born: 1829-XX-XX Ohio
John Hibbs was a laborer and farmer. In April 1849, he married Malinda Nichols, with whom he eventually had at least four children. In March 1856, he was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to two years in the Illinois State Penitentiary. Illinois Governor William H. Bissell pardoned him in May 1857. By 1860, Hibbs was living in Sangamon County, Illinois with his wife and children and owned $250 in real and personal property. By 1863, he was living and farming in Loami in Sangamon County.
