Samuel A. Irvin was a lawyer and postmaster. From May 1849 to October 1851, he served as postmaster of Oregon, Illinois. In October 1849, Irvin married Matilda M. Motter. In 1850, he owned real property valued at $50. Irvin and his wife moved to Chicago, Illinois, sometime in the 1850s. In 1860, Samuel was practicing law in South Chicago and owned real property valued at $5,000 and a personal estate of $200. He was a partner in the firm of Irvin & Snowhook along with William B. Snowhook. Also known as S. Addison Irvin.
