Lincoln, Willie

Third son of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Lincoln, William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln grew up in Springfield, Illinois. Named after Mary's brother-in-law Dr. William Wallace, Willie moved into the White House with his parents and younger brother Tad after his father's election as president. Willie died of typhoid fever. He was interred in Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown, and after his father's assassination, his body was exhumed and he was interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield alongside the remains of his father and brother, Edward B. (Eddy) Lincoln.
