O'Neal, Samuel

O'Neal moved to Sangamon County, Illinois, when he was very young. He served in the Black Hawk War in two of the same companies as Abraham Lincoln. In 1847, he married Lucy Scoot, with whom he had six children. He had two other previous wives, with whom he had two children. O'Neal was a farmer and a client of Lincoln & Stuart and Lincoln & Logan.
