Lucius H. Page was a farmer, town and county government official, and state legislator. He received his education in the public schools of his native state. Page remained on the family farm until he was twenty-one, when he left home to become a farm hand. He engaged in farming in Windsor County, Vermont, until September 1843, when he moved to Wisconsin, settling on a 300-acre homestead in Rock County near Fulton. In addition to tending crops and raising livestock, Page became involved in politics. He held numerous local offices in Fulton, including road commissioner, assessor, and treasurer. He served as chairman of the Rock County Board of Supervisors for two or three years. In 1849, Page represented Fulton and Rock County in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In 1850, he married Lucinda Williams, with whom he had four children, three of whom lived to adulthood. Page was an early supporter of the Republican Party and a Baptist.
