David Pheasant was a businessman and land agent in Springfield, Illinois. He married Lydia Smith on October 31, 1850 in Sangamon County, Illinois. He co-partnered in the firm Maxcy & Pheasant in Springfield from January 1854 until March 1856 with John C. Maxcy. The team conducted auction and commission business and acted as a general land agency. He was also a member of the Masons.
