Pierson married Clarissa Morris in 1824 in Ohio. In 1833, they moved with their two children to Sangamon County, Illinois, and they settled north of Springfield, where Pierson established a farm. Clarissa died in 1836, and the following year, Pierson wed Harriet Kilbourn, with whom he had nine children. In 1860, Pierson owned $10,000 worth of real estate.
