Ragsdale, Daniel (Ragsdall)

Daniel Ragsdale was a boarding house operator, joiner, and carpenter. He was a resident of Springfield, Illinois, as early as February 1836, when he participated in a debate at the Young Men's Lyceum. In November 1836, he married Eliza E. Bell, with whom he would have at least four children. In September 1839, he operated a boarding house. He was active in the Whig Party, representing Springfield at the Sangamon County Whig Convention in March 1844. By 1849, he was a carpenter and joiner working in partnership with Daniel Hannan. By 1860, Ragsdale and his family were living in Jacksonville, Illinois, where Ragsdale was employed as a carpenter.
