Andrew J. Randall was the brother and heir of Charles M. Randall. He married Mary Ann E. Cooper in St. Louis, Missouri, in April 1840. In 1850, he was farming in Miami Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, and living in a household that included his mother, Elizabeth Randall, and his wife and four children. In the 1850s, Randall and his family moved to Clinton County, Illinois. In 1860, he was farming and owned real property valued at $4,500 and a personal estate of $1,000.
