Died: 1849-01-25 Sangamon County, Illinois

Roll emigrated with his family in 1813 from his native state to Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1825, he left Cincinnati for Illinois, arriving in Sangamo Town in Sangamon County in October. He entered into the mercantile business and commenced purchasing and clearing land and farming. By 1836 he had purchased 1,608 acres of federal land in Sangamon County.
