Saunders, Edward R.

By 1837, Saunders and his brother Thomas had moved from Philadelphia to settle in Beardstown, Illinois, where Saunders was a merchant and an active member of the Whig Party. In 1846, he married Mary A. Nolte. In 1850, he owned $5,500 worth of real estate. Saunders and his family moved to Chicago sometime after 1850.
